Men who identify as women are incarcerated in German prisons across the country. There have already been attacks on female inmates, as a WELT survey of the federal states' justice ministries reveals.


In German prisons, female prisoners have been harassed by trans women on several occasions.

A particularly shocking case occurred in the Chemnitz Prison (Saxony): In 2023, a transgender prisoner is said to have sexually harassed female inmates and asked them for sex - if they refused, he is said to have even threatened them. Female prison officers are also said to have been victims.

The prison did not react at first. Only after a letter from a prisoner became public was the trans inmate transferred back to a men's prison. The state government in Saxony only confirmed the case in December last year, following an inquiry from the AfD.
